What is Hypnotherapy?
And what is Hypnotherapy used for? In short, it is a type of talking therapy. Hypnotherapy work with your conscious and unconscious mind to have positive lasting effects in, usually, a short amount of sessions.
In hypnotherapy, a trance state is usually induced. However, Cognitive Hypnotherapy, we work on waking you up from your usual trance state. What does that mean? In other words, if for example, if you are panicking about public speaking, you would be at a trance state at that point. Altogether, with this approach, we would try to bring you to consciousness. This is to stop you experiencing those feelings before the event.
What is Hypnotherapy used for?
It is used for a wide range of issues and goals. For example here are a few:
- Anxiety disorders (obsessive-compulsive disorder, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, etc).
- Weight management
- Eating disorders
- Phobias & extreme fears (needles, public speaking, spiders, heights, etc)
- Pain management
- Depression
- Mindset*
- Confident Childbirth (Hypnobirthing)
- Confidence & Self-esteem
In addition, there are many other ways in which it can be used. This is a list of examples of what usually people query about.
How Many sessions will I need?
It depends on each person. Some people do 4 sessions, whilst others do more than 10. This is because some people when they see the benefits of hypnotherapy, they keep working on other parts of their lives. In adition, as with any talking therapy, there is never a guaranteed solution.
